Dan Baker Music provides an extensive range of music creation, recording and performance services. But how did it all start?
Dan Baker started music with the violin at primary school, along with some singing lessons, and piano lessons a few years later. He took up bass and guitar at 16, and developed a keen interest in other string instruments and recording techniques.
Dan studied electro-acoustic music and electronic engineering at Keele University, and started his working life with EMI at their studios at Townhouse, Goldhawk Road, London in 1995. Dan played with several bands in London during his two years with EMI, before moving to Birmingham to work as technical manager at DEP studios, the home of UB40, completing their studio re-fit.

Band Hire – For Events & Gigs
Dan Baker plays and offers solo, duo and band music performances for events in small and large venues, art centres, festivals, for all private and public performances.
Apart from gigs and two days’ teaching per week at Bryanston School, Dorset Rural Music School and Milton Abbey School, Dan is also involved with local bands and studios, and he is also a member of the jazz examining panel at the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). With the Baker Brothers, Dan has played seven tours of Japan, and gigs in France, Spain and Germany. Testament that Dan’s music performance services are delivered through extensive experience.
Session Musician – In Studio or Performance
Educated, professional and proficient session musician with extensive experience available for most music genres. Includes violin, piano, bass, acoustic/hybrid/electric guitar, banjo, keys and much more.
Dan has worked in many studio and performance projects and also provides music arrangement and recording should there be a need to layer down tracks for final production. Sessions can be delivered remotely or on site, noting that Dan lives in the South West but welcomes enquirers from all corners of the UK or other countries (if remote working).

With a a degree in electro-acoustic music and electronic engineering Dan’s mobile and fixed studios offer music recording and production services for professional and amateur musicians, singers and community projects.
We have the most up-to-date equipment and specialise in remote or group and community based projects. You can book by the hour or we can work out a price for a whole day. We encourage all professional and amateur music lovers and composers to get in touch
Song Production
From arrangements to song writing we can help you createthe song and instrumentation needed for a great track.
If you have a song written (maybe on solo guitar or piano) and wish to complete it using actual instruments (these are of course far more preferable to generic MIDI sounds), I can work closely with you to produce the final product, recording, mixing and mastering it to your specification, with optional musical input whenever you require. This provides a cost-effective solution to your musical needs. I play all the instruments you find on this website, though the drums are programmed using the large array of acoustic drum sounds available. A real drummer is available, and I work with a number of drummers, all of whom can work closely to your musical theme.

Microphones
Our microphone range is extensive and we have mics for producing great vocal and instrument recording. The SE 3300 is great for higher fidelity recording and we have a pair so can record stereo for drum overheads, etc. We have SE X1d and Shure SM58’s. For a jazzy/natural sound we use AKG C3000. These are just some of the mics on offer in music production and recording.
